The White Ship

This documentary tells of life aboard a hospital ship: wounded sailors taken aboard after a bombing attack slowly regaining their strength under the care of Red Cross volunteers. Part of their wounds is the concern for their comrades left aboard the damaged vessel. Only when the mother ship comes safely into port is the relief palpable. Masterly direction by Roberto Rossellini with the supervision of Naval Officer Francesco De Robertis make this propaganda piece a cult flick.
