A G8 meeting is being held at a luxury hotel on the German coast. The world’s most powerful economists are gathered to enact important provisions that will deeply influence the world economy. One of the guests is a mysterious Italian monk, Salus, who’s emerging from a long period of silent meditation.
He has been invited by Daniel Rochè, the Director of the International Monetary Fund. Rochè wants the monk to receive his confession, that night, in secret.
The next morning, Rochè is found dead. Salus was seen entering Roche’s room the previous night and is now the main suspect, but he refuses to break the seal of the private confessional. The finance ministers attending the G8 fear that Rochè might have leaked the details of a plan they were about to approve that will have a catastrophic effect on the economies of many countries. With more than his innocence at stake, Salus will not reveal any details of what Rochè confessed and now his silence may upend the schemes of the most powerful economists in the world.
